Wedding season is here again, and like every year, the trends for weddings have changed along with societal fashions and interests. If you’re looking for your wedding to be on-trend, we have a few of our absolute favourite trends of the year to share.
This year, we’re seeing a blend of opulence and simplicity in weddings. Think ‘old money’ aesthetic. People are choosing to reduce excess in decorations, choosing luxurious statement pieces for a more refined, intentional style, which in turn gives a more meaningful atmosphere. While trends come and go all the time, this minimalist elegance gives the whole wedding a more timeless and sophisticated feel.
In keeping with the sophistication of the luxe minimalism aesthetic, we’re seeing a more focused attention on calligraphed invitations. Bringing a more traditional and timeless feel to your invitations, it sets the tone for the rest of the wedding while creating a more personal and intentional feel for your guests.
From textural and gathered table linens to elegant backdrops, drapery as décor creates a simply charming ambience that is perfect for weddings. This trend fits in perfectly with the warm and romantic accents of luxe minimalism, adding a movement and softness to the space. Not only is this a simple yet statement choice, it also can be used effectively to conceal any imperfections or unsightly aspects of your venue, making it perfect for anywhere!
Couples are increasingly starting new traditions and including private, more intimate moments as part of their day - for example, private vows, getting ready together, or just taking time to connect. Weddings can be so busy with guests and the events of the days itself, so more couples are embracing the chance to take a deeply personal moment for themselves on a day which is supposed to be about them!
This year sees a comeback of film cameras, usually in addition to traditional wedding photography. Film photography is more raw and unpredictable, making it perfect for capturing candid moments throughout the day. This gives a more authentic feel to the wedding photos, harnessing the emotions of the day instead of just practiced smiles and posed photographs, so the couple can connect more with them later on.
In addition, not only does film have a more nostalgic and romantic feel, but it also gives a softer edge, which can be more forgiving in capturing imperfections that you might usually feel insecure about.
In 2025, couples are more playful and experimental with colour, moving away from the hyper-monochrome white on white on white! While being more intentional with design, you can opt for punchy pieces that bring flair and personal style to your wedding. Cherry red seems to be a popular choice, adding a more daring and passionate edge to place cards, table settings and more.
A staple from 2024, bows are still proving popular this year due to their timeless style and versatility. Whether you use larger bows to create drama and make a statement, or smaller, daintier ones for a sweeter, more romantic look, they can really be used anywhere in your wedding to suit your theme.
While sustainability isn’t exactly a trend, we’re glad to see this is still in the spotlight for weddings this year. Couples are becoming more mindful of the unnecessary waste that can occur at the end of the night and are moving away from plastic props and trinkets and opting for more sustainable or ethically sourced options. Whether it’s in the form of permanent favours, using small businesses, or just generally reducing their use of plastic, more sustainable weddings are on the rise.
From these trends, we can see that personality and timeless sophistication are at the heart of 2025 weddings. Couples are doing what feels most authentic to them and creating beautiful weddings that capture who they are. Looking for more inspiration? Check out our Wedding page.
