Ideas For Winter Activities

As the weather gets colder and the nights draw in, it can be tempting to go into hibernation mode. As inviting as it sounds, spending time on the sofa and watching back-to-back episodes of your favourite series can make us feel sluggish, low and disconnected. Finding the motivation to stay active and get outdoors can be incredibly difficult. However, at The Range, we are here to help. Why not look at our Ideas For Winter Activities to get you up and about in no time?

Geocaching

Geocaching is a great winter activity. Not only is it a fantastic way of getting exercise and fresh air, but it also rewards you for your efforts. Geocaching is a global treasure hunt where people look for hidden stashes of objects using a GPS device or app. Simply input the coordinates, and start your adventure to find hidden treasure in the great outdoors. Geocaching during the winter can get a little chilly, so plenty of warm layers, walking boots or wellies, a hat and gloves are absolute must-haves.

Camping

Camping out in harsh and forbidding weather conditions can be an incredibly daunting thought. However, nothing can compare to escaping into a winter wonderland away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Though not for the faint of heart, winter camping is achievable and enjoyable if you plan and prepare accordingly. Ensuring you have a water-resistant shelter, warm bedding, plenty of layers, and means to cook a hot meal, winter camping is the perfect winter getaway.

Winter Activities

Paddleboarding

Paddleboarding in the winter may seem ludicrous, but it can be just as enjoyable as paddling in the summer sun. The key is planning, dressing accordingly, and ditching the shorts and T-shirt for something warmer. Planning will allow you to choose the best conditions and locations and get equipped for the colder weather. Paddling in groups is safer and more fun, making it a great social activity.

Cycling

Winter can leave us cooped up inside, preventing us from getting that much-needed vitamin D. Incorporating cycling into your routine is the perfect outdoor activity for getting fresh air and light. Whether you're cycling to save on emissions or simply going on a family bike ride, you'll need to take additional safety precautions for the colder conditions. High-vis clothing and bike lights are essential for safety and visibility, especially on darker days. Ensure you stay warm and well-protected with a helmet and plenty of winter garments.
