Small Bedroom Storage Ideas To Stay Clutter-Free

Looking for small bedroom storage ideas? Look no further! We know it's easy when faced with a small bedroom to struggle with keeping your stuff neat, tidy and out of sight. When space is a premium, you want solutions that don't make the space feel more cramped! Small doesn't have to mean you compromise on style, tranquillity or comfort.

Use Underbed Space

In most bedrooms, and especially in smaller rooms, the bed tends to be the largest piece of furniture taking up the most floor space. If you can use that same floor space area for storage, you're already maximising available space. Ottoman beds and beds with drawers that slide underneath are a perfect way to keep things tidied away and out of sight entirely. You can use your under-bed space for clothing, toys, shoes, linens or even books.

Bedside Tables

After under-bed space, the next obvious option is to use any space on either side of the bed for bedside tables or nightstands. Taking up relatively little floor space but offering a flat top surface and potentially drawers, these are a great easy storage solution. Mirrored bedside tables are a great storage solution that also doubles up as a design feature by bouncing natural light around small bedrooms, which makes them appear larger. Elevating the bedside table and keeping more space visible underneath is another great way to keep things feeling light and airy.

Chests of Drawers as Bedside Tables

If you're able to forgo a wardrobe, using only chests of drawers can stop a small bedroom from feeling too cluttered. Keeping space above the bed clear and open helps create a sense of additional height in the room. Maximise drawer space while still having some flat surface space beside the bed for your lamp, alarm clock and book.

Shelving & Space-Saving Desks

You can create additional space to stash your stuff with some well-placed shelves. Keep things open and light with minimalist designs and unfussy straight lines. A low-lying bookcase can be a place for books, yes, but also accessories, tech devices, or toys! Consider a rotating desk that can be folded flat against a wall or opened out into a corner desk as needed. Go for sleek minimalist designs to avoid over-cluttering an already small space

Muti-Purpose Furniture

If you’ve got the width beside your bed, consider a small desk or console with drawers that can act as both a bedside surface for the essentials and a useable study space. A stool or seat without a tall back can slide under the desk or console, too, keeping it out of the way when not in use.

Out of Sight, Out of Mind?

It’s tempting, when you have drawers to shove things into, to let the insides become a chaotic dumping ground. This can then lead to us overflowing onto flat surfaces outside the drawer. Keep the insides of your drawers tidy with individual baskets, dishes or compartments for specific things. For clothes, consider a fabric clothes-tidy that can slot into your drawer and keep your socks, under wear, t-shirts etc. all neatly sorted. All this will have the added benefit of making it much easier to find exactly what you’re looking for without having to empty the contents on the bed!
