What You Need

  • Paint: Specifically formulated for outdoor use, we really recommend Rust-Oleum’s Garden Paint. It's available in 110 colours so you’ll be able to find the perfect shade to paint your sofa with, whether you choose just one solid colour or go for multiple colours across the whole thing.

  • Three wooden pallets. You can often get these extremely cheaply from trades businesses as they often try to get rid of them once a job is done.

  • Roller & tray: For the majority of the painting

  • Brush: For the hard to reach places

  • Fixings for the pallet sofa

What To Do

  • First, paint your pallets! If it’s a warm day, this is best done outside, but you can also lay down some sheets and do it inside. Made sure you always stir your paint before use. Use a roller for the larger parts of a pallet and then a brush for the smaller beams and leave each coat for around four hours to fully dry. With Rust-Oleum’s Garden Paint, you should only need one or two coats to get a full, solid colour.

  • Once completely dry, stack two pallets on top of each other to create a stable base. Secure these two pallets together, and then fit another to the back to create the backrest.

  • Adorn your newly built sofa with a seat pad and fun cushions to add comfort and more colour.

Now your outdoor sofa is finished, push it back against a wall or fence to create the perfect seating spot. Perhaps pick up a new patio table or some outdoor lighting to help really highlight your finished project!
