2021 Wedding Trends

Now more than ever it’s important to celebrate the love we have for one another. Though 2021 may throw up some hurdles, it doesn’t mean you can’t have the perfect wedding. Even if you’re having a small, intimate wedding, you can still show off your creativity and individuality as you take on board the changing fashions and designs of the year. So, why not get inspired by the top wedding trends of 2021?

Pastel Tones

This year, Pantone (the US company famous for its colour matching system) has picked Ultimate Grey and Illuminating as their colours of the year. The rocky, dependable grey and hopeful, bright yellow are the perfect metaphors for this year, and they’re also ideal bases for a pastel-toned wedding.

Sweet, subtle, and simple to coordinate, pastel tones are easy to work with and can be used in anything from the flowers to the cake, to the décor, and even to the bridesmaids’ dresses. Another easy way to coordinate your theme is by adding coloured tablecloths, runners, or even tinted tableware and crockery.

Thanks to their soft and romantic feel, pastel colours are a popular option and are still going strong. They’re especially apt now for creating an aura of beautiful colour and subdued reflection.

Maximalist over Minimalist

With celebrations being kept to a minimum, it’s becoming more common to see a maximalist theme on those rare occasions where we can have them. Therefore, large flower arrangements, bold cake designs, extravagant cocktail bars, and outrageously fun décor are all brilliant ways to splash out on the event.

Try layering your table settings with charger plates, and adding a variety of centrepieces in different heights, styles and shapes. Candelabras, flowers, and statues all make for beautiful ways to decorate your table or event to accentuate the aisle!

Using a mix of textures and patterns by combining rich sumptuous velvets with romantic silks and lace creates depth and interest that marries both contemporary and vintage wedding themes, bringing maximum style; which is perfect for couples who can’t decide what their theme should be!

DIY

Creating elements for your wedding yourself is a fun and rewarding way to prep for your big day, and if you’ve got more time on your hands, it’s the perfect way to keep yourself occupied and have a go at something new. Plus, it makes the day feel that more personal, sentimental, and can even save you money too!

Dry out petals from flowers in your garden, the park, or even bouquets from your loved one to create confetti, cut and decorate your own napkins, or create your own bouquet from faux flowers that will last a lifetime! Create your own guestbook out of photo frames or albums, make your invitations, and design wedding favours that are specially created for each guest to show your appreciation for those you love most.

There are plenty of ways to get creative and DIY weddings are both practical and beautiful. Much of the magic comes in the fact that they aren’t perfect, but you’ve put your heart and soul into creating something special anyway.

Tableside Service

After the steep incline in buffets, they’ve fallen sharply again in the last year, giving rise to tableside service for a traditional sit-down meal. With food being ordered ahead of time and delicious plates being brought straight to you and your guests, it’s more important than ever to utilise seating plans and table markers.

Making the Most of the Outdoors

With many venues being closed or fully booked, couples are increasingly choosing the outdoors for their nuptials. Whether you decide to get hitched in the local park, your favourite spot near the beach, or even your own garden, the outdoors makes a stunning backdrop to your day and helps your guests to stay spread out without alienating anyone.

Once the ceremony is over, you can use a marquee or a gazebo for the reception.
